Ducktail

The Porsche ducktail signifies a lot in a rather subdued way. It’s a relatively simple add-on to the legendary 911 design, but what it means to the on-looker is that this 911 is special. A ducktail means this particular 911 is an RS, basically a race car certified for the street. It’s mean, it’s fast, and it’s not always particularly safe - especially for those who know not what they do.

Back in 1972 when the Porsche 911 Carrera RS 2.7 was being designed and the ducktail was born, the engineers created it as an aid to help the tail-happy 911 have a more planted rear end.
