PFM 3200

$195.00

The Porsche PFM project, initiated by then CEO Peter Schutz, wasn’t necessarily a market success, but it was a technological success. It was the first FAA-certified general aviation engine to offer electronic ignition and full authority digital engine control (FADEC). A single power lever was used instead of the three power controls (throttle, mixture, prop) used in most general aviation aircraft to this day. Its push-button start, quiet operation, and unreal smoothness made it one of the most unique and advanced aircraft. Here it is in Jefferson, Texas next to its ground-based sibling the Porsche 911 (964), which was sold around the same time as the PFM. Porsche’s partner in certification was Mooney Aircraft. You see it in the image as the Mooney M20L. This is one of only four or five still certified and flying in the world. A PFM 3200 deserves to be photographed with a Leica, and indeed this one was. Leica Q.

There are many ways to read into the deep, dark red finish of this frame. Whether you see regalia, gladiator blood, or wine when you look at it, we know you’ll love it around your PFM. Each color is created by layering a series of transparent tones with a glossy finish, creating an effect akin to ceramic glazing. No two are exactly alike. They are perfectly imperfect with varied scratches and ripples. The color oscillates between an almost-black burgundy and a rich red when it's in direct sun. This frame measures 3/4" wide × 1 1/4" deep. Art dimensions: 22” x 14.67”. Final frame size is 28.75” x 21.42”. Made of solid walnut and stained deep navy blue, we love this frame with outdoor photographs, flags and more.

Each hardwood frame we build is one-of-a-kind, and no two sides are ever alike. There will be visible variation in this frame. Every one custom built by a team of experts in their Kentucky studio. With old school craftsmanship, new technology, and some serious attention to detail, they’re proud to represent a new style of American manufacturing.

We source the best materials in the industry like wood mouldings, acrylic glazing with UV protection, and acid-free mats and foam core. Premium is our starting point. Printing is on artist-grade paper with archival inks.
